HOW WE BEGAN
Tender Hand started the way the best things often do — in a family that had seen too much, and decided to do something about it. Before they were business owners, they were nurses, and caregivers long before that. A mother and her three daughters, who had spent years in other people's homes, doing the work by hand. And over those years they kept running into the same quiet heartbreak: people being treated like tasks on a schedule instead of lives worth honoring. Rushed visits. Forgotten names. Dignity treated as optional.
One question kept finding them: Would this be good enough for our own mother?
The answer was always no.
So in the summer of 2023, they stopped hoping someone else would get it right, and built it themselves. They named it Tender Hand, for the kind of care they’d want for the people they love most. A family business, run by an actual family, for families across New Jersey.
MEET THE FAMILY
Run by a family of nurses.
Tender Hand was founded and is led by Ada, a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and the most experienced of the sisters, alongside her mother Cordelia and her sisters Esther and Jane.
Ada — Registered Nurse & Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Founder and driving force behind Tender Hand.
Cordelia — Licensed Practical Nurse, and the mother who set the standard.
Esther — Registered Nurse.
Jane — Registered Nurse.
